Ammonia as a Carbon-Free Energy Carrier: NH<sub>3</sub> Cracking to H<sub>2</sub>

In the energy transition from fossil fuels to renewables, hydrogen is a realistic alternative achieving decarbonization target. However, its chemical and physical properties make storage transport expensive. To ensure cost-effective H2 usage as an vector, other chemicals are getting attention carriers. Among them, ammonia most promising candidate. The value chain of NH3 carrier, considering long-distance ship transport, includes synthesis at loading terminal, unloading cracking release H2. cost drivers chain. Also, large scale not mature technology, significant effort has be made in intensifying process much possible. this respect, work reviews available technologies for cracking, critically analyzing them view up industrial level.
